Covid-19 Temporary Local Rules

These local rules are in place for competition use whilst restrictions are still in place

Flagsticks/Holes:
The club has installed mechanisms to allow players to remove the ball without touching the flagstick and so scores will be acceptable for either competition or supplementary score purposes. In such cases, the ball is considered holed if any part of the ball is at rest below the surface of the putting green, even if not lodged against the flagstick.

Bunkers: Preferred Lies
A ball lying in a bunker may be lifted without penalty. Before lifting the ball, the player must mark its position. Having lifted the ball, they can place the ball on a spot within six inches of and not nearer the hole than where it originally lay, The ball may not be cleaned when lifted. Penalty for breach of local rule : 2 strokes.

A player taking relief under a Rule (e.g. casual water) must first abide by that Rule prior to applying the above procedure.

Marker Posts
Marker posts should not be touched and are to be treated as immovable obstructions.

Temporary Local Rules

Temporary local rules that are dependent upon course conditions, e.g. preferred lies, are displayed on the noticeboard on the pro shop wall next to the practice putting green and on the course status shown on the club website and Club V1 app. The area where preferred lies may be used (e.g. in the general area or closely mown areas in the general area) will be specified.

Preferred Lies
When preferred lies are in force, a ball may be lifted without penalty and cleaned. Before lifting the ball, the player must mark its position. Having lifted the ball, they must place it on a spot within six inches of and not nearer the hole than where it originally lay, that is not in a hazard and not on a putting green. Penalty for breach of local rule : 2 strokes.

Winter Bunker Rules
A ball lying in a bunker may be lifted without penalty. Before lifting the ball, the player must mark its position. Having lifted the ball, they can rake a small area and then place the ball on a spot in the newly raked area within six inches of and not nearer the hole than where it originally lay, Penalty for breach of local rule: 2 strokes.
A player taking relief under a Rule (e.g. casual water) must first abide by that Rule prior to applying the above procedure.

18th Hole Out of Bounds
The Out of Bounds (OOB) starts just past the bell on the left and finishes at the back of the White tee on the 1st hole. The start and end of the OOB is a 90 degree angle to the left of the first and last posts, to the white posts in the trees.

Tree Stumps
Following the removal of a number of trees, there are some stumps awaiting removal. The stumps should be considered Ground Under Repair and players may take free relief under rule 16.1
